A Bit About Me
I often joke that an extraordinary AP Psychology class in high school set everything in motion. What stayed with me was a lasting curiosity about how people make sense of themselves and their experiences. Ten years and some change later I am a licensed psychologist in California.
I have expertise in mental health treatment for LGBTQIA+ individuals, Black, Indigenous, and People of the Global Majority (BIPGM), and older adults. The clinical settings I've worked in include community mental health, psychiatric inpatient hospitals, and university counseling centers. I have supported clients through psychiatric emergencies, major life transitions, grief, relational conflicts, school/ work performance issues, and identity development. To name a few.
Because I am a first-generation Vietnamese American woman, I understand on a deep level how culture, family, and marginalization can shape who we are and how we move through the world. I am confident my lived experience and psychological expertise can successfully facilitate interested, curious, and motivated clients get closer to a more meaningful, fun, and rich life.
Or not! There are many ways one can live one's life. My job is to help you evaluate yours, find a realistic starting place, and walk with you to the finish line. Figuratively that is.
I welcome any and all questions when you're ready to reach out.
